Many people feel that their cell phones should work every where. The wireless companies all provide cellular coverage maps both in their stores, but also on their web sites. These are nice but lack sufficient detail to tell you whether your home will actually receive good or poor coverage. The fact of the matter is that cellular coverage is sporadic at best and only works well were the cellular companies can safely generate lots of revenue. Their cellular coverage maps will show an area is covered, however it might be only 2 bars in signal strength, which after passing through the walls of your home or office is less than 1 bar and your cellular phone does not work. Physics also plays a part in that the cellular radio waves are attenuated every time they pass through something including walls of buildings. If you find that your cell phone works well outside your home or office, and does not work well inside then the walls of your building are resistive to the signal.
On solution is to purchase a cellular repeater or booster as they are sometimes called. Using a repeater or cellular booster will improve the cellular coverage inside your building when you have at least 2 bars of signal outdoors. So even though the wireless company you deal with has a cellular coverage map that shows your area is covered you may still need to take matters into your own hands to find a solution.
